Speaker Biographies

Mark Drake Mark Drake
Manager, Product Management, Oracle

Mark Drake has nearly 25 years experience in the information technology industry, having worked as programmer, analyst and database administrator, before moving into consulting and product management. He has been at Oracle Corporation for the last 14 years. During his tenure at Oracle he been responsible for product marketing and product management for a number of technologies including application development tools and content management. Currently Mr. Drake is responsible for product management for all of the XML Infrastructure products in Oracle's Server Technology division, including the XML DB feature of Oracle Database 10g Release 2. Mr. Drake currently manages the product management team that owns Oracle's core XML technology. He is also responsible for helping organizations understand how Oracle's XML capabilities can be applied to emerging business trends such as XBRL. Mr. Drake is a member of the British Computer Society and holds a BSc. in Applied Computing.

Phillip Engel Phillip Engel
Director, Goffengel Consulting

Phillip has been working in the XBRL community since XBRL’s inception. He is currently working with XBRL US Inc. as the tech lead responsible for supporting the technology to maintain and produce the US GAAP taxonomies and other US jurisdictional taxonomies. He has previously provided XBRL consulting services in the financial services industry in New York. He stared in XBRL while at KPMG where he participated in several of the XBRL working groups including being an editor of the current XBRL 2.1 specification.

David Hands
Director, Product Development, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation

David Hands has worked within the financial services industry since 1986 primarily with Morgan Stanley Broker/Dealer (London 1986 - 1990 and New York 2001 - 2003) and Morgan Stanley Global Custody New York (1992-1998) where he specialized in Corporate Action Processing, Product and System Development.

In 1998, David left MSGS and spent two years at Deutsche Bank, as a Vice President, managing the Private Bank Operations before returning to Morgan Stanley as a Vice President managing the New York Broker/Dealer Corporate Action Project Team.

In 2003, David joined the DTCC's new Global Corporate Action Validation Service as the Operations Manager. Since 2003, GCA VS Operations has grown to about 60 personnel located in New York, London and Shanghai. Currently David's focus is on corporate action data sourcing.

Darrel Heaps Darrell Heaps
President and CEO, Q4 Web Systems, Inc.

Darrell Heaps is a co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Q4 Web Systems. He is an experienced entrepreneur with a history of successfully starting, building and selling communication-based companies. Under Darrell's leadership, Q4 has grown from a startup to a leading provider of on-demand software that helps publicly traded companies increase efficiency and reduce risk related to corporate disclosure and regulatory compliance. An increasing number of North America's largest issuers rely on Q4 solutions to help manage disclosure controls and procedures. In March 2008 Q4 was named one of Canada's Top 25 Up and Coming Software Companies by Branham300 and Backbone magazine. As CEO of Q4, Darrell’s responsibilities include setting priorities, measuring performance, raising capital and recruiting tier-one talent.

Prior to Q4, Darrell founded NKaos Interactive Media. One of Canada’s earliest web development and marketing companies, NKaos won numerous marketing awards while developing sophisticated web programs for some of Canada’s largest companies. In 2001, Darrell merged NKaos with a corporate communications firm to form Weave Communications, where he served as President until 2005.

Karen Hsu Karen Hsu
Director of Product Marketing, Informatica

Karen Hsu is Director of Product Marketing for Informatica's Data Transformation and Exchange Solutions. In high tech start-ups and public companies including Intel, CrossWorlds, Siebel, and Selectica, Karen has driven the development and go-to-market strategy for new software applications in CRM, product configuration and pricing, and data integration. At Informatica, she has brought to market new technologies and driven the partnerships with and integration of Data Quality and Data Transformation solutions.

Masatomo Goto
Manager, Fujitsu Research Institute

Masatomo Goto is a manager at Fujitsu Limited, Japan. He is leading XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) consortium activities since 2001, partly by chairing Specification working group in 2003. He has been a key resource for the development of new specifications under XBRL, such as Formula Linkbase, Versioning, Rendering Linkbase, GL, and so on.

Prior to that, Masatomo was an active member of XML Link (XLink) Working Group in W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), contributing to standardize XLink/XPointer specifications from 1998 to 2003. He also developed a XLink/XPointer processor as a first implementation of the specifications.

From 1997 to 2001, he was responsible for the research of markup languages and hyper linking technologies over several markup languages (XML, SGML, HyTime). He also designed and implemented applications to process them.

He has presented at various International Conferences, such as SGML/XML Europe in 1998, XBRL conferences in 2001 - 2008, IEEE conference in 2009.

Makoto Koizumi Makoto Koizumi
Senior Consultant, Fujitsu Research Institute

Makoto Koizumi is a Senior Consultant of Fujitsu Research Institute (FRI). He has been an "At Large" Member of the XII International Committee since 2005, is the co-chair for the Asian region of the International Jurisdiction Development Sub-committee, and is a member of the Best Practices Board. He is involved in many of the International Technical Working Groups, as well as many of the XBRL projects Page 12 Presenter Profiles based in Japan, including the Tokyo Stock Exchange's TDnet Taxonomy Development Project, JFSA EDINET Taxonomy Development Project and the Interoperable Taxonomy Architecture Project as a XBRL consultant at FRI, which is a member of XBRL Japan.

Steve Levine
Chief Marketing Officer, UBmatrix

Steve brings more than 25 years of technical, marketing and sales experience to his role. Most recently, Steve was the VP of Marketing at Cassatt Corp. Previously he was VP of Product Marketing at Oracle responsible for Oracle Collaboration Suite. Steve has held VP of Marketing positions at high tech startups Ketera and Arcot. As Senior Director at Oracle, he was responsible for Oracle's first global e-commerce campaign. Steve has held product, marketing, sales and business development positions at Symantec, Tektronix and ParcPlace Systems. Steve has a B.S. Computer Science from Southern Methodist University.

Ivy Lee Ivy Li
Director of Equity Data Acquisition, Morningstar

Ivy Li leads the equity data processing efforts at Morningstar. She is in charge of working with data providers and internal analysts around the world to collect, parse, normalize and develop analytics for equity data in different markets. Before taking this role she served as the Director of Document Services, focusing on building client solutions for document sourcing and delivery needs. Mrs. Li holds a master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago.

Jose Macdonald Josef Macdonald
XBRL Lead, Ernst & Young Global

Josef works with Ernst & Young Global (based in London), as XBRL lead.

Josef has been involved with XBRL since 2000, leading XBRL-based projects since 2002. He is currently an advisor numerous regulatory projects and supports EY’s largest client preparers filing in XBRL under new regulatory reporting programs around the world. He is currently a member of the XBRL International Organisation Steering Committee, the IASC Foundation’s XBRL Quality Review Team, XBRL-UK and XBRL Europe.

Previously, Josef was an XBRL Practice Fellow at the IASB. In this role Josef introduced XBRL to the Board and Trustees and founded the IASC Foundation XBRL Team, which he led from its inception. As founding chairman and project leader of the IFRS Taxonomy Working Group, Josef’s primary responsibility was to coordinate development of the core IFRS-based XBRL taxonomy and its support applications, as well as to initiate and direct IFRS XBRL-based projects around the world. Josef held this position from 2002 until 2007.

Prior to working with XBRL, Josef worked in Ernst & Young (New Zealand) National Assurance and Advisory Business Services Group advising on complex accounting and securities law issues. He has also worked as an advisor in the EY Corporate Services Taxation Group. He is a PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) UK qualified Project Manager and Practitioner, a New Zealand qualified Chartered Accountant, as well as Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.

Max Mansur
Global Market Manager, Custodians and Asset Servicing, SWIFT

Max Mansur is a senior manager responsible for SWIFT's portfolio of securities asset servicing solutions and products. He is responsible for ensuring that solutions such as Corporate Actions and the Simulation Testing and Qualification Service (STaQS) support the needs of custodians and securities market infrastructures as well as prime brokers, investment managers, issuers and their agents. Now in his 10th year at SWIFT, Mr. Mansur also managed pre-trade/trade projects at SWIFT and served as chair of the certification working group for the Global Fixed Income Committee of FIX Protocol Ltd.

Mr. Mansur has over 30 years of information technology experience with a focus on management of products and programs for financial solutions. This includes the U.S. National Student Loan Data System, secondary mortgage market operations at Freddie Mac, and various supply chain and accounting products. He has been quoted in the trade press, published articles, and spoken at industry events on topics related to asset servicing, data quality, the FIX protocol, standards, and quality assurance. Mr. Mansur received commendations from the US Air Force for his accomplishments as an information systems officer and holds a computer science degree from Troy University, with honors.

Karla McKenna
Director, Citi

Karla McKenna manages the Industry Leadership group for Citi Securities and Fund Services. This group is responsible for Citi’s participation and representation on national and international industry standards organizations and for implementation of standard messaging for the Securities industry. Ms. McKenna is the Chair of International Organization for Standardization, ISO TC68, Financial Services and serves on the Boards of ASC X9 and ISITC. She is also actively involved in numerous committees and working groups of industry organizations including the Securities Market Practice Group (SMPG) and SWIFT.

Piyush Mehta
Architect, Simplex Data Technologies

Piyush Mehta has several years of diversified experience in the fields of Technology Consultation and Software Design and Development. He has held positions at Avaya, a leading global telecommunications provider. As an architect at SimpleX Data Technologies - a managed XBRL service provider company in Los Gatos, California, Piyush has been actively involved with the interpretation and implementation of the XBRL specifications. With his domain and technology background, Piyush has been instrumental in developing TagezeeTM that is being used now by SimpleX to render XBRL services to companies filing with the US SEC in XBRL. Piyush holds a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of South Carolina.

Diane Mueller
Vice President, XBRL Development, JustSystems

Diane Mueller is a Vice President of XBRL Development focused on the Financial Services sector at JustSystems/Canada. She has been designing and implementing products and applications embedded into mission critical financial and accounting systems at F500 corporations for over 20 years. Diane has been actively involved in development efforts of XBRL standard for the past 9 years. She is currently a Member of the XBRL International Steering Committee; Chair of the Rendering Technical Working Group, a past at-large member of the XBRL-US steering committee, the past chair of the XBRL/GL working group and a contributor to the Canadian GAAP XBRL taxonomy.

Maciej Piechocki
XBRL Technology Project Manager, IASC Foundation

Maciej Piechocki is XBRL Technology Project Manager at the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation (IASCF). He is responsible for the technological development of the IFRS Taxonomy and other global IFRS and XBRL initiatives. Recently Maciej has been appointed to the XBRL Standards Board.

Before joining the IASCF, Maciej was Head of the Competence Centre Information Logistics (Chair of Information Systems) at the Freiberg University of Technology in Germany. He has also acted as an advisor on a number European XBRL projects for stock exchanges, commercial banks and software vendors.

Maciej holds a PhD in Economics with a major in Management Information Systems. Maciej also holds an MSc in Economics with a major in Investment and Corporate Financial Strategy, and an MSc in Business Administration with majors in Information Technologies and Information Systems, Accounting and Corporate Governance. Maciej is the author of the insolvency prediction model commonly used by auditors in Poland for analyzing financial statements and ratios, and has also authored and edited several books. Maciej was an initiator of the Polish XBRL jurisdiction and the founding member of the XBRL Poland Association.

Campbell Pryde
Vice President, Domain and Chief Standards Officer, XBRL US

Campbell Pryde leads the development and maintenance of taxonomies for XML-based business reporting applications in the US. This position plays an integral part of the executive team of XBRL US in determining the strategy for taxonomy development and maintenance. Mr. Pryde joined XBRL US from Morgan Stanley, where as Executive Director in the Institutional Securities Group, he managed the equity research XBRL-based valuation framework. He has been involved with XBRL since 2001, and most recently served as Chairman of the XBRL US Domain Steering Committee which is responsible for setting the strategic direction for development of the XBRL US GAAP taxonomies. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Pryde was a Partner in the Risk and Advisory Practice of KPMG LLP. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Wilson So Wilson So
Director of Hitachi America, Ltd., XBRL Business Unit

Wilson So is the Director of Hitachi America, Ltd. XBRL Business Unit, introducing Hitachi’s XBRL products and consulting services to both the commercial and government sectors and actively contributing to XBRL thought leadership. Prior to his current role, Wilson led Hitachi’s technology marketing effort in North America for next-generation data center technology, ubiquitous computing, and IP internetworking. Before Hitachi, he worked for General Dynamics Canada as a R&D manager and was one of the founding team members to develop the world’s first-ever-fielded land mine detection robot.

Ted Stavropoulos Ted Stavropoulos
Director of Business Development, Rivet Software

Ted Stavropoulos joined Rivet in December of 2008, bringing with him over 20 years of experience of delivering solutions for accounting and finance professionals. Ted's background includes Technical Sales, Program Management, Product Planning, Product Marketing, Partner Management, Business Development, Management Accounting and Accounting/Reporting Systems Implementations. Before joining the Rivet team, Ted spent 12 years at Microsoft and FRx Software. Prior to Microsoft / FRx Ted also gained valuable experience at KaPRE software, Summit consulting and BDO Seidman with an emphasis on making Accounting and Reporting systems easier to use.

Michael Travis
Chief Operating Officer and Board of Directors, Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Systems Global Holding Company

As the Chief Operating Officer for Hitachi IT Global Holding Co. (“HIGH”), Michael Travis’ focus in Hitachi Information and Telecommunication Systems Group (“ITSG”) expansion outside of Asia. Today, portfolio companies within HIGH include Hitachi Data Systems and Hitachi Consulting. From 2003 through March of 2009, Michael served at President and Chief Executive Officer at Hitachi Consulting.

Prior to joining Hitachi Consulting, Travis spent 24 years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and Arthur Andersen in various consulting client service and practice leadership roles. He has spearheaded initiatives to help CIO’s drive increased corporate value from the IT function and position IT leadership for higher impact and influence in the organization. At Andersen, he served in various leadership roles including Managing Partner of Andersen’s SAP practice, and was Managing Partner for the Pacific Region of Andersen’s Business Consulting practice. Mr. Travis was selected by Consulting Magazine as one of the Top 25 Consultants in 2005.

Additionally, Travis has taught Management Information Systems courses at The University of Texas at Austin and Southern Methodist University and serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. Travis received Bachelor and Master Degrees in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.

John Turner John Turner
CEO, CoreFiling

John Turner is Chief Executive of CoreFiling, one of the main XBRL software vendors, offering best of breed solutions for complex taxonomy management and collaboration as well as XBRL instance document review, processing and validation. Turner has been involved in the XBRL International consortium almost from its inception, and currently chairs the XBRL International Standards Board. With a background in financial regulation, financial analysis, software development and project management, Turner holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Queensland.

Yi Wang Yi Wang
Chief Technology Officer of Data Business, Morningstar

Yi Wang works for Morningstar's Data Business Unit and leads the technology development and implementation efforts for the Data team. Ms. Wang joined Morningstar as a developer in 1992. During her tenure in Morningstar, she has worked in different areas including database, network, Morningstar.com and International Business. Ms. Wang received her bachelor of science degree in Computer Science from Nanjing University and a master’s degree from University of Illinois at Chicago.

Steve Wright Steve Wright
Director of Innovation, Salesforce.com Foundation

Prior to joining the Salesforce.com Foundation, Steve worked for thirteen years in K12 education and technology. He was a high school administrator and a classroom teacher for nine years, beginning with the Peace Corps in Micronesia. Steve joined Salesforce.com Foundation in September 2000, initially working to help youth-serving organizations maintain effective IT for both administrative and programmatic purposes. In an effort to create greater scale, Steve led the effort to build a robust product donation program. The salesforce.com Foundation has donated the force.com data management platform to over 6,000 organizations in over 55 countries.

Steve is a recognized expert in the areas of nonprofit operational efficacy, social impact measurement and the use of effective and relevant tools to make a better world.

Steve's responsibilities as the Director of Innovation center around leveraging the salesforce.com product specifically, and the cloud in general, to advance the foundation's Theory of Change: "Our world, better equipped to address its challenges." To this end, he has led the development of the Nonprofit Starter Pack which is a configuration of the force.com platform specifically designed for the social sector. The Nonprofit Starter Pack is currently in use by over 2500 nonprofits.

Additionally, Steve is active in the global social sector working to build and support ecosystems where both collaboration and social impact outcomes accompany revenue to define sustainability. An example of this work is the PULSE project for social investment which is built on the Force.com platform.
